A calmer way to build the habits you actually want.
HabitFirst is a small, focused Android app for tracking the handful of things you want to do every day. Pick a few habits, check them off, watch the streak grow. That's the whole pitch.

What's inside
Small surface area. Enough to be useful.
Most habit apps drown you in dashboards. HabitFirst keeps the surface area small on purpose — just the four things that actually move the needle.
Habits that fit your life
Pick from 25+ ready-made habits or design your own — choose the emoji, the days, and the daily target. No rigid templates.
Streaks worth protecting
Every day you check in, the streak grows. Miss a day and it resets — gently. The point is showing up, not punishment.
Reminders, not nagging
Set as many reminders per habit as you need. Morning workout at 6:30, evening meditation at 9 — quiet, useful, never spammy.
Your data stays yours
Optional Google sign-in syncs across devices via Google Drive backup. Skip it entirely and everything stays on your phone.
A look around
Three screens you'll use the most.

Today
A single screen for the whole day
Habits are grouped by time of day so the next thing you should do is always at the top. Tap to mark done, hold to log a partial.

Reports
See the pattern, not just the number
Calendar heatmap, weekly bars, current streak, longest streak. Useful when you want to know whether last month was actually better than this one.

Profile
A quiet score that actually means something
Habit Score combines weekly consistency, current streaks, and 4-week trend into one number you can move. Optional, but a useful nudge.
From the blog
Practical writing on building habits.
What does it cost?
Nothing. The app is free on Google Play with no ads in the way of tracking habits, no premium tier hiding the basics.
Do I need to sign in?
Only if you want to. Without an account everything works offline on your device. Sign in with Google to sync between phones and back up to Drive.
Can I track weekly habits, not just daily ones?
Yes. Each habit picks its own schedule — daily, specific weekdays, or a target number of times per week.
What happens to my streak if I miss a day?
It resets to zero. There are no streak-freezes or paid recovery — the streak is meant to reflect what actually happened.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. HabitFirst is Android-only for now.
